AUSTIN, Texas; LAKELAND, Fla.; and CHANDLER, Ariz. -- In a sign of the competitive times being experienced by the grocery industry, a number of supermarkets are choosing to stay open on Thanksgiving Day to gain sales from last-minute shoppers. In the case of Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods, however, Massachusetts state law is mandating that it must remain closed.

NEW YORK -- Nearly two-thirds (61 percent) of Americans will not be traveling this Thanksgiving holiday, despite it being one of the most well traveled holidays, according to a recent survey by AIG Auto Insurance.
