Piggly Wiggly's New Biometric Payment Promo is for the Birds (Free Ones)
CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Employee-owned regional independent Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co., is giving away a free turkey to each shopper who signs up for its biometric payment service checking option this week.
The weeklong promotion is being co-sponsored by Pay By Touch, the San Francisco-based biometric technology vendor that installed Piggly Wiggly's system. Pay By Touch eCheck is a service that lets shoppers pay from their checking accounts electronically with the touch of a finger.
Many retailers encourage this form of tender among their shoppers, as it avoids the high fees associated with credit card transactions.
"Current Pay By Touch members love the convenience and freedom of needing nothing more than a finger to securely pay and to receive their PFC discounts and Greenbax rewards," said Rita Postell, community relations manager at Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co.
To participate in the free turkey promotion, shoppers visit the Pay By Touch kiosk in participating Piggly Wiggly stores with a picture I.D., a check, and a PFC card to sign up by October 24. Upon completion, Pay By Touch members will receive a voucher for a free turkey that's good up until Thanksgiving.
