Young, who served more than 25 years in a number of management and other positions at Penn Traffic and P&C Foods, more recently held positions at both A&P and C&S Wholesale Grocers. His last position at C&S was v.p./general manager of retail.

    HALETHORPE, Md. -- The impending close of distributor Ocean Logistics here, a subsidiary of Keene, N.H.-based C&S Wholesale Grocers, on April 28, is poised to be a major blow to needy people in the area. According to the Maryland Food Bank, its neighbor Ocean Logistics donated more than 1 million pounds of food to it annually. "This is devastating," noted the food banks executive director, Bill Ewing, in a statement. "Ocean Logistics is one of our biggest food donors. It will be very hard for us to make up 1 million pounds of food from any one food donor."

    KEENE, N.H. -- Four employees yesterday filed a nationwide class action against C&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc., based here, in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, claiming that the second-largest wholesale grocery store supplier in the United States "routinely cheats thousands of its piece-rate warehouse workers out of millions of dollars a week in wages," according to a statement from the law firm representing the plaintiffs.
