Grocers Made a Dent in Shrink Rate in '05
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Food retailers used technology, surveillance, hotlines, and other tactics to decrease losses from theft and other forms of shrink to 1.69 percent of sales in 2005, down from 2 percent the previous year, according to the Food Marketing Institute, which released its latest report on loss prevention yesterday. -
Winn-Dixie to Certify Private Label Items as Kosher
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - In a bid to better serve shoppers who adhere to strict kosher dietary laws, Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. said yesterday it has reached an agreement with Star-K Certification, Inc. to ensure the chain's private-label kosher products adhere to Jewish dietary laws.
