Meatless Pepperoni Pizza Pockets are the newest product from plant-protein brand gardein.
Each pocket consists of a non-GMO wheat flour outer crust filled with marinara sauce, meatless pepperoni and vegan mozz’rella. Boasting 9 grams of protein per serving, the new offering is vegan, Kosher, cholesterol-free and contains fewer calories, less sodium and 42 percent less fat than conventional pizza pockets, the company said.
“Pizza is a great favorite but is high in fat, sodium and calories,” said Yves Potvin, founder and president of gardein. “We wanted to satisfy our consumers’ needs for a delicious, convenient pizza pocket while making it better for them and the planet.”
