Tops Bows 2 Rebranded Stores

Tops Markets LLC this week held official grand-reopening ceremonies under the Tops banner for former Big M stores in Elbridge and Jordan, N.Y.

Both stores were part of Tops’ acquisition late last year of three Big M supermarkets in central New York state. The third store, in Mexico, N.Y., is currently undergoing renovations, and will celebrate a grand reopening later this year.

“The entire Tops team has worked very hard to ensure that our Jordan and Elbridge customers will have a more enjoyable shopping experience as they see the many changes in the setting, amenities and wide variety of fresh products that our neighborhood stores will offer,” noted Tops president and CEO Frank Curci, who vowed that the grocer “will also continue to be active members of the local community.”

The renovated stores now feature new signage, storefronts and interior décor; upgraded produce, bakery, deli, meat and seafood departments; and larger dairy and frozen food sections, while the Elbridge location also offers new healthy, natural and organic; bulk; and floral sections. The 25,521-square-foot Elbridge store underwent an $800,000 remodel, while the 11,299-square-foot Jordan market underwent a $300,000 remodel.

Reopening ceremonies included the participation of community leaders and Tops executives, as well as donations made on the grocer’s behalf to various local charities through its “Living Here. Giving Here” community partnership program.

Williamsville, N.Y.-based Tops operates 155 stores -- 150 company-owned and five franchise locations -- under the Tops, Grand Union and Bryant’s banners in upstate New York, northern Pennsylvania and western Vermont.
