NEW YORK - MyWebGrocer.com, a New York-based provider of online services to retailers nationwide, has acquired the assets of NeXpansion, which include the NetGrocer.com direct-to-consumer online grocery business and Endless Aisle technology, a service used by many supermarkets to provide hard-to-find products to customers.

WASHINGTON - McDonald's has shut its 24-hour vending machines that were being tested in Washington, D.C., The Associated Press reports. Only the DVD rental service offered by the kiosks remained active.

CHICAGO and QUINCY, Mass. - Leading Internet grocer Peapod, Inc., and Stop & Shop, New England's largest supermarket chain, has announced the expansion of service to the New Haven, Conn. metropolitan area.

FORT WORTH, Texas - Albertsons.com, the online grocery service of Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons, Inc. announced today that it has expanded its online grocery service to serve Dallas and Fort Worth area residents.

NEW YORK - Gristedes is the latest New York City-based retailer to launch online grocery shopping. XpressGrocer.com, a division of Gristedes, introduced the order and delivery service on Oct. 14 throughout the borough of Manhattan.

CHICAGO -- Peapod introduced Sunday delivery to the Windy City this week as part of its emphasis on improving customer service. The online grocer has also added a Chicago's Best "aisle," offering entree selections from some of Chicago's most famous restaurants.

Boise, Idaho -- Albertsons, Inc., announced today the expansion of its online grocery service, Albertsons.com, to Boise area residents. The Web site is now accepting orders, and deliveries will begin today to 13 Boise area ZIP codes.

NEW YORK -- FreshDirect, Inc., the New York-based online fresh food provider, announced today that it has completed a private placement of its equity securities to a limited number of accredited investors.
