Gristedes Launches Online Service in Manhattan

NEW YORK - Gristedes is the latest New York City-based retailer to launch online grocery shopping. XpressGrocer.com, a division of Gristedes, introduced the order and delivery service on Oct. 14 throughout the borough of Manhattan.

"XpressGrocer.com is a sign of the times, and Gristedes has backed XpressGrocer.com with more than 100 years of quality products at competitive prices," said Gristedes chairman and c.e.o. John Catsimatidis. "There is clearly a segment of New Yorkers who want the convenience of online shopping, and we will be there for them with the largest variety and freshest products of any food shopping Web site in the United States."

The service features more than 40,000 items, including kosher and international products, Boar's Head deli products, nonfood items, and other products from the stores' perimeter departments.

Same-day delivery service is available seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Free delivery is provided for orders in excess of $100.

The company is offering an introductory special with $50 in free groceries.
