Albertsons Brings Online Delivery Service to Dallas-Fort Worth Area

FORT WORTH, Texas - Albertsons.com, the online grocery service of Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons, Inc. announced today that it has expanded its online grocery service to serve Dallas and Fort Worth area residents. Deliveries began today to 170 zip codes in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area. With this expansion into Texas, Albertsons.com now serves nine major metropolitan areas in California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, and Idaho -- the largest geographic reach of any online grocery provider in the United States.

To use the service, shoppers visit the Albertsons.com web site, register, and place their orders for delivery or in-store pick-up. All products ordered through Albertsons.com are available at the same prices as at Albertsons stores.

"Albertsons.com will provide shoppers with flexibility to complement their busy lifestyle,? said Wayne Denningham, President of the Dallas/Fort Worth division of Albertsons. ?Albertsons.com will accommodate even the most active families. Our customers can choose the time their groceries are delivered to their home, or they can schedule the order to be ready at the local store of their choice so they can conveniently pick it up on their way home."
Orders placed with Albertsons.com are filled in existing Albertsons supermarkets, not from a distant warehouse, so that the service can provide the same full selection of products that regular Albertsons shoppers buy in-store. Online shoppers can opt to have groceries delivered to their homes or offices within a prescheduled 90-minute window, or pick up their prepaid, prepacked groceries at a convenient Albertsons store. A total of 101 neighborhood stores in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex will offer the pickup service, which allows shoppers additional flexibility and is unique to Albertsons in the online grocery industry.

Albertsons created its own Web site and tied the Internet service to existing pricing and inventory systems. Through its existing store infrastructure, grocery expertise, and technology investments, Albertsons is able to quickly expand to new markets with ease.
