Currency Impact Drags Down Delhaize Group Q4 Sales
BRUSSELS, Belgium - A weakened dollar hurt results for the Delhaize Group in its fourth quarter, the retailer here said yesterday. Net sales for the quarter amounted to EUR 4.8 billion ($6.279 billion) -- a decrease of 1.0 percent compared to 2005. At identical exchange rates, however, revenue would have grown by 4.6 percent, supported by strong comparable store sales growth of 2.2 percent in the U.S., and 2.7 percent in Belgium and a continued high performance in Greece. -
Hannaford, Sweetbay to Install Touchscreen Payment Terminals
SCARBOROUGH, Maine - Hannaford Bros. Co. here, a unit of Delhaize America, has selected the new consumer-facing VeriFone MX830 as its next generation payment solution. The system, which is equipped with touchscreen signature capture capability, will be deployed initially in new and remodeled Hannaford stores in the Northeast, and in Sweetbay Supermarket stores in Florida.
