    LANDOVER, Md. -- Ahold USA Giant Food here called in the U.S. Food & Drug Administration to investigate a case of apparent food tampering after a manager at a store in Dundalk, Md. discovered two pins in a loaf of raisin bread.

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- A new study conducted on behalf of the Corrugated Packaging Alliance here by Heads Up Systems, Inc., concluded that shipping iceless broccoli in Corrugated Common Footprint (CCF) containers saves retailers and grower/shippers 27 percent in total supply-chain costs, compared to shipping in reusable plastic containers (RPCs).
  • HEB Recalls Baby Food Line

    SAN ANTONIO -- HEB here said it has issued a recall of its entire HEB Baby Food line, including Mom's Choice Organic Baby Food, in response to three consumer reports of glass shards found inside jars of peas, carrots, and applesauce. The reports originated in Houston and Corpus Christi, but the grocer made the decision to remove the products from all of its Texas stores on Wednesday.
