LOCKPORT, N.Y. -- Grocery chain Tops Markets has presented a concept plan for a gas station to be located across the road from one of its franchised stores here.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. said yesterday that its same-store sales in June rose 2.4 percent, excluding fuel sales, with grocery continuing to be stronger than general merchandise at the Wal-Mart Stores segment.

Natick, Mass. -- Aided by solid food sales, BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc. yesterday reported June 2007 net sales of $886.8 million, a 9.8 increase from the year-ago period's $807.3 million. Comparable -club sales rose 5.3 percent, including a contribution from sales of gasoline of 1.4 percent and an adverse effect of 0.4 percent from the absence of pharmacy sales vs. last year. For June 2006, the retailer posted a comparable-club sales dip of 0.1 percent, including a contribution from gas sales of 2.1 percent.

DALLAS -- Leading c-store operator 7-Eleven, Inc. here said yesterday (on 7-11-07) it has overtaken quick-serve restaurants and food providers in the number of retail outlets worldwide.

LAKELAND, Fla. -- In its latest move to offer customers more convenience-driven services, Publix Super Markets, Inc. here is testing curbside carryout at its store in Fort Meyers, Fla., according to a report in the Lakeland Ledger.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Meijer here has extended a gasoline rebate program through the end of the summer in its 11 greater Cincinnati and northern Kentucky stores.
