Weis Markets has appointed two new directors to its evolving executive team, following the recent news that Jonathan Weis will replace his father, Robert, as board chairman.
Former Director of Pricing Michelle Dorin has been appointed director of dairy, frozen, specialty foods and beer, in which she will oversee all aspects of the company’s category management and sales building programs for those categories, including organic, gluten-free and natural.
A Weis veteran since 1987, Dorin previously served as a buyer, category manager and oversaw specialty foods earlier in her career.
Maria Panko, formerly senior private brands manager, has been promoted to director of marketing and private brands. She will helm the Sunbury, Pa.-based company's marketing programs, including loyalty marketing, digital and social media, while retaining her private brand responsibilities.
Panko joined the company in 2006 as a marketing analyst; she subsequently worked for Daymon Worldwide and later rejoined the company as a category manager.
Both Dorin and Panko have been honored previously as Progressive Grocer's Top Women in Grocery.
Weis Markets operates 163 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia.
