Wegmans Slashes Prices on More Family Items

With the winter holidays looming, Wegmans has expanded its price cuts to more than 40 products that are most essential to families, including small-pack and family-pack sizes.

“Our approach to pricing is simple: We offer the lowest prices in the market on items families use most, so they don’t have to run around town to find the best value,” explained President Colleen Wegman. “2016 has been a challenging year of deflation for our entire industry, lowering the costs and retails for staples like eggs and ground beef. As a family company, we’re able to invest in lowering prices on even more products, like almond milk and Greek yogurt, to keep current with the changing trends of what today’s families are buying most.”

The items chosen for this latest round of price cuts reflect rising customer demand for organics and encompass fresh produce, dairy, grocery and frozen food products. Among the new prices are 5.3-ounce Wegmans Greek Yogurt for 69 cents, Wegmans Organic Bananas for 59 cents a pound, 18-ounce Wegmans Peanut Butter for $1.49 and 12.3-ounce Wegmans Organic Homestyle Waffles for $1.49. The total number of SKUs with new consistent low prices is 247.

According to Rochester, N.Y.-based Wegmans, the products are all store-brand, because it can be more aggressive with pricing for its own brand.
