Walkers 'Pins It' Forward for the ASPCA
To help raise funds for its charitable partnership with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Hauppauge, N.Y.-based Walkers Shortbread is launching its “Pin It” Forward to the ASPCA Contest, a fundraiser for animal welfare.
Users of the social media platform Pinterest can make a $1 donation to the ASPCA by re-pinning a Walkers contest “pin,” a unique image created for the promotion. Participants will automatically be entered to win a Walkers prize package and an additional $100 donation to the ASPCA made in their name.
“We are well into our 2012 partnership with the ASPCA, continuing to donate 10 cents from the sale of every ‘Scottie Dog’ cookie item, and we will make a donation of at least $25,000 by year’s end. This Pinterest contest is a way of doing a little something extra for the ASPCA, while also engaging the dynamic Pinterest community with a rewarding promotion,” said Lisa Sherman, brand manager at Walkers Shortbread. “Our goal is to raise an additional $1,000 for the ASPCA through this online initiative, as well as to raise awareness of the organization’s mission.”
To donate and enter, Pinterest users should do the following:
- Follow Walkers Shortbread on Pinterest - www.pinterest.com/walkersshortbrd
- Pin an image of the Scottie Dog Cookies or Tin using the “pin-it” button on their browser, or by clicking the “Add +” button on Pinterest, then clicking “Add Pin” and pasting the following link: www.walkersus.com/aspca
- Write one sentence in the description about Walkers 2012 partnership with the ASPCA along with the hashtag #walkersshortbread
- Find the official contest pin on the Walkers Pinterest page in the board titled, “'Pin It’ Forward Contest” and re-pin the image to their personal Pinterest page to complete the entry and make a $1 donation to the ASPCA.
Once the goal of raising $1,000 is achieved, one Pinterest “pinner” will be randomly selected to win the grand prize. Throughout the contest period, users can visit Walker’s Pinterest page to track the progress of the promotion’s fundraising.
“We are excited to be on Pinterest and to share our products with consumers in a variety of ways, whether it be sharing the news about our partnership, or sharing shortbread recipes,” added Sherman. “It’s a great way for us to engage with our customers, and we think this contest is a fun way to spread the word and lend even more of a helping hand to the ASPCA.”
