Tyson Foods Gets on Course As Sponsor With USA Track & Field

SPRINGDALE, Ark. -- Tyson Foods here has joined on as the "official protein sponsor" for USA Track & Field (USATF) in an alliance that will extend through the 2008 Olympic Summer Games in Beijing, China.

The sponsorship represents a natural evolution of a relationship that began seven years ago with Tyson Foods' involvement in the annual Tyson Invitational indoor track meet, according to company executives. "We are excited to be part of this powerful sport that hinges on high-energy performances," said Bob Corscadden, Tyson Foods' s.v.p. and c.m.o. "Protein, as part of a meal, increases power and strength. This partnership allows us to communicate the importance of protein and nutrition to millions of Americans in a powerful way."

USATF road races by distributing product samples and promotional items. Tyson Foods' support of the Visa Championship Series, USATF's signature series of televised indoor and outdoor track and field events, includes the Tyson Invitational, USA vs. The World at the Penn Relays, the Millrose Games, the AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships and USATF's Annual Meeting.

As part of its role at Visa Championship Series events, Tyson will be connecting local children's track and field clubs with top athletes at events throughout the season. The star performers of today will share training and lifestyle tips with the stand-outs of tomorrow, such as the importance of balancing a protein rich, well-balanced diet with physical activity.
