Tops Contest Yields New Dannon Oikos Flavor

A social media contest held by Tops Markets LLC, Draft the Next Oikos Flavor, has resulted in the introduction of the line’s newest flavor, Triple Zero Orange Crème. The item will receive its official debut at a press and tasting event at a Tops store in Buffalo, N.Y., on April 20.

Triple Zero Orange Crème won out against other flavor options, including Cookies & Cream, Blueberry Acai, and Pineapple. Additionally, one winner of the Dannon Oikos Flavor Search Sweepstakes contest was randomly selected from the group of online voters to receive $10,000.

“Tops was quintessential in partnering to create a successful program that uses social media in a unique way to respond to the everyday shopper at Tops,” said Matthew P. Geiger, key account manager at White Plains, N.Y.-based Danone North America.

Williamsville, N.Y.-based Tops operates 172 full-service supermarkets, with five additional by franchisees under the Tops banner. The chain employs more than 15,000 associates in New York, northern Pennsylvania, western Vermont, and north central Massachusetts.
