Stop & Shop/Giant Food Names New C.F.O.

QUINCY, Mass. -- The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. / Giant Food said it has appointed James K. Rojas c.f.o. to oversee the two Ahold banners' financial and information technology functions.

Rojas succeeds Rick Picariello, who left the company to pursue other opportunities.

Rojas was previously Ahold USA's e.v.p. of shared services. He also served as the e.v.p. and chief administrative officer for Ahold's recently divested U.S. Foodservice division, which he joined in 2003 as a financial consultant.

Rojas was a founder of Chicago-based Huron Consulting Group, which began operations in May 2002 with a core group of veteran financial and operational consultants. By 2005 he had risen to Huron's executive team as v.p. of corporate development, in which position he handled acquisitions and joint ventures, as well as other corporate development projects such as work force development.

Stop & Shop/Giant Food employs over 82,000 associates and operates 580 stores in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia.
