SIAL Canada Slated for April 2-4
SIAL Canada, the International Food and Beverage trade show in North America, will be back in Montreal April 2-4, 2014, the show's organizers have announced.
The 11th edition of SIAL Canada will include three new awards as part of the SIAL Innovation competition: a Retailer award, a Foodservice award and a Children's special prize.
The 2013 show, which took place at Toronto’s Direct Energy Centre in April, boasted a record number of exhibitors and an increase of more than 5 percent in professional attendees, IMEX Management said. Almost 13,000 visitors from across Canada and from 60 different countries came to enjoy the show.
Back in Montreal for 2014, SIAL Canada will highlight the latest consumer trends, including products from more than 750 exhibitors representing up to 50 different countries. The show will also reflect local trends, with more than 350 Canadian companies expected to participate.
SIAL Innovation is the only international competition of its kind highlighting novelties covering every part of the world, according to IMEX Management. Made up of experts from the food industry and in partnership with XTC World Innovation, the jury selects 10 finalists and one Grand Prix winner, all of whom will have the unique opportunity to travel worldwide, visiting all the SIAL trade shows -- in China, Brazil, the Philippines, Paris and Abu Dhabi.
To help attendees navigate the 200,000-square-foot exhibition area, the organizers provide visitor paths. These circuits are tailored to specific interests from among the various product categories available (i.e. gluten-free, organic or regional products).
Following its success in 2012 and 2013, SIAL Canada's educational program will feature themes that are current and in the news: food innovations, ethnic products, packaging and food waste, health, gastronomy, etc. Speakers have been invited from several renowned organizations, including XTC, Nielsen and UQAM.
Established in 2001, SIAL Canada was the culmination of the work of three organizations that are all shareholders in the event: ADAQ (Association des détaillants en alimentation du Québec), the Agri-Food Export Group of Quebec-Canada, and SIAL S.A.
