Shoppers Food & Pharmacy to Open Baltimore City Unit

LANHAM, Md. -- Shoppers Food & Pharmacy here is opening a new 57,000-square-foot store in an urban enterprise zone in the City of Baltimore, marking the chain's 16th Shoppers location in the greater Baltimore area since its entered the market in 2002.

The store, scheduled to open Sunday, March 26, will anchor the 75,212-square-foot Anchor Square shopping center. The site was developed by Columbia, Md.-based real estate company Manekin, LLC, which has previously converted seven Metro stores and one Hechinger's store into Shoppers locations.

Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley will help put "finishing touches" on the store for the opening, joining project officials to hang the exterior "Shoppers" sign on the building, and stock the shelves.

Shoppers Food & Pharmacy operates 62 stores in the mid-Atlantic region. The retailer's stores, which feature 30,000 everyday low prices, have such amenities as 350 varieties of produce, Black Angus beef, a floral department, an in-store bakery, fresh seafood, and in-store Provident Banks.
