Shaw's Introduces New Chef-prepared Meals for Two
WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Regional Albertsons-owned chain Shaw's Supermarkets here plans to launch a chainwide program May 3 that features chef-made meals for two.
The meals will be supplied by Grace's Kitchen, a Seattle-based frozen dinner company, and will differ from traditional tray-based meals in that each Grace's meal element (often the raw ingredients) is separately vacuum-packed for optimum freshness and flavor, says the supplier.
Offerings will include both vegetarian and nonvegetarian selections, with such menu items as Mahi Mahi Tacos, Spice-Rubbed Pork Loin, Spinach-Herbed Polenta Lasagna, and Wild Salmon Cakes.
"Grace's Kitchen has created a solution for consumers who want high-quality meals at home that are appetizing [and] nutritious, and can be served in less than 30 minutes from frozen," said Grace's president Jaap Langenberg. "We offer an alternative to restaurant takeout, and far exceed the quality of traditional frozen meals with superior, natural ingredients and a top-tier menu selection."
Shaw's will carry Grace's Kitchen meals across its six-state chain encompassing Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Vermont. Grace's meals currently sell at retailers such as Whole Foods, Wild Oats, and Giant Eagle.
Each Grace's Kitchen meal includes simple cooking instructions, plating recommendations and suggested wine pairings.
