Sara Lee Deli Unveils Sensational Sandwich Search
DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. -- Sara Lee Deli here is kicking off its second annual Sensational Sandwich Search geared toward giving aspiring home chefs a simple way to compete for a top cooking prize, and be transformed into a celebrity chef.
Set to launch in August -- National Sandwich Month -- the sandwich search challenges foodies and creative chefs to focus their skills and artistic energy on reinventing the sandwich, long regarded as America's favorite meal for lunch and dinner.
"The Sensational Sandwich Search is looking for Americans to go beyond the simple, everyday sandwich and create an extraordinary sandwich. We're looking for the best tasting deli sandwich in America," said Derek Bowen, director of marketing for Sara Lee Deli.
The contest runs through Sept. 29 and encourages cooking enthusiasts to submit their original and exciting recipe that transforms an ordinary sandwich into the ultimate sandwich. The winning sandwich recipe will be named "2006 Sara Lee Sensational Sandwich" and its creator will win the grand prize, a family vacation to Hawaii, formerly known as the Sandwich Islands.
Contestants can submit their recipes online at http://www.SaraLeeDeli.com. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. The recipe must include Sara Lee deli meats and cheeses. The sandwich with the best taste and appearance, and most originality will be declared the winner. Sara Lee will judge all entries and select 50 finalists.
