Pro & Sons Bows New Albuquerque Store
Hispanic-oriented grocer Pro's Ranch Markets opened its first store in Albuquerque, N.M. yesterday - its first in the state.
"This project represents a large investment in the local community," said Mike Provenzano, c.e.o. of Pro's Ranch Markets. "My family puts their heart and soul into these stores."
The grocer also owns and operates four stores in California's Central Valley; one in El Paso, Texas; and four in Phoenix. The company plans to add two more stores in Phoenix later this year.
The New Mexico unit represents a revamp of the Ranch Market format. "The major renovation [of the concept] brings the total square footage to 79,000, making this one of the largest food specialty markets in Albuquerque," explained Provenzano.
The store will have a 15,000 square foot scratch bakery, Cocina (Hot Foods), and homemade tortilla factory that will deliver hot bread and hot tortillas throughout the day.
"The smell of fresh baked bread will greet you at the door," Provenzano said. "We will be making over 100,000 stone ground tortillas every day. This is home cooking at its finest. The meat market will prepare carne asada for BBQ's and hand cut customer orders."
