Price Chopper, National Brands Support Children's Charity

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Shoppers buying many well-known national brands at Price Chopper here this month will be helping to cheer up area children sorely in need of happiness: The purchase of selected brands in the retailer's stores supports Kansas City's Dream Factory, the local chapter of a national volunteer-based nonprofit organization with the goal of fulfilling dreams for children with life-altering illnesses. The campaign marks the third year in a row that Price Chopper has backed the local charity this way, raising $50,000 to date.

"Last year our customers' support of these popular brands enabled us to make a $26,000 contribution to Dream Factory," noted Price Chopper sales manager Adam Rini in a statement. "This year we are looking to increase that contribution and help make even more dreams come true for area children."

Among the products, which are represented by food broker Advantage Sales and Marketing, LLP, are Starkist Tuna, Del Monte, Breyers Ice Cream, Country Crock, Lipton Teas, Ragu, Daisy Sour Cream, NatraTaste Sugar Substitute, Pedigree Dog Food, Imperial Margarine, Nice 'n Fluffy Fabric Softener, XTRA Detergent, Sweet 'N Low, Edwards Pies, Michelina’s and Budget Gourmet Frozen Dinners, and Klondike Ice Cream. The specific products contributing to the Dream Factory fundraising effort are marked on Price Chopper aisles.

"Price Chopper customers, through this effort, are many of Dream Factory's largest and most important supporters," said Dream Factory president Gavan Steketee. "Every purchase helps to bring smiles to the faces of special children and their families."
