MO Grocers Back ‘Eat At Home’ Campaign

Decades ago, most families spent much time cooking at home. According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), in the early 1900s, almost 90 percent of the portion of the national food budget spent on food consumption was at home, compared to about 52 percent today.

Launched in January and supported by Missouri Grocers Association, the Eat At Home Missouri website was designed to promote the return to home cooking. The goal is to provide consumers a resource to help them save money, eat healthier and together as a family, and promote the grocery industry in Missouri.

The website offers consumers recipe ideas, coupons, meal planner worksheets, entertaining ideas, kid activities, cooking blog posts, and more.

“The objective of this website is to provide consumers a learning resource so they can learn how to cut calories from their daily diets, determine the quality of the food they are eating and become budget-friendly,” explained Janelle Haik, website creator. The user-friendly site design permits users a positive experience that invites them to learn more about home cooking and everything related to the preparation of food.

This initiative was developed by the Missouri Grocers Association as a response to getting serious about obesity, healthy choices and increasing family time.
