  • Hannaford Wants Platinum LEED Certification for New Store

    Hannaford Supermarkets is set to debut what it describes as “the most environmentally advanced supermarket in the United States” July 25 in Augusta, Maine. The Delhaize-owned chain is shooting for the 49,000-square-foot store to be the first supermarket to achieve Platinum LEED certification, the highest standard of the U.S. Green Building Council.

  • Cub Foods First Minn. Grocer to Earn First LEED Gold NC2.2 Cert

    A Cub Foods supermarket in St. Paul has become the first grocer in Minnesota and only one of three in the nation to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold NC2.2 Certification. Designed in cooperation with project teams from Cub Foods, Supervalu, Oppidan Investment Co. and Kraus Anderson, the high energy-efficient designation was awarded to the store in the Phalen neighborhood of St. Paul, for energy use, lighting, water and material use, as well as the incorporation of other sustainable strategies.

    The Golub Corp./Price Chopper Supermarkets has hired Steven Duffy as VP of Architectural Design and Purchasing Services, reporting directly to William Sweet, VP of engineering and construction. The company also promoted Benny Smith to the position of VP of facilities, also reporting directly Sweet, and Glen Bradley to the position of director of business intelligence, reporting directly to Peter Cobuzzi, VP of marketing.
