IRI Acquires Beverage Alcohol Consultancy Secant
CHICAGO -- Market information provider Information Resources, Inc. (IRI), yesterday acquired the assets of Secant, Inc., a beverage alcohol consultancy and information provider.
The purchase of Secant -- which has a portfolio of data acquisition, transformation, and reporting applications specifically focused on hard-to-measure segments of the beverage alcohol marketplace -- will give IRI, based here, the opportunity to expand its capabilities in the beverage alcohol market.
"Today's beverage alcohol marketplace is becoming increasingly fragmented and difficult to measure, and IRI is uniquely positioned to address the evolving marketplace," said the marketing data firm's president and c.e.o. Scott W. Klein. "To effectively compete, beverage alcohol companies require a complete information picture that can only be created by integrating multiple sources of data and insight interpreted by unique domain expertise."
The acquisition will also allow IRI to link on-premise and off-premise inventory movement data and compare how trends move from one to the other.
Secant principals Elena Amboyan and Anne Carlson have been named s.v.p.s of IRI, and will join the Beer, Wine, and Spirits vertical practice.
