Hiller's Markets Hosts Gluten-Free Food Fairs
Seeking to bring relief to the one in 133 Americans that lives with Celiac disease, Hiller's Markets is gearing up to host two days of gluten-free food fairs later this year.
The two-day event, set to take Dec. 13-14 in Commerce Township, will feature experts from Tri-County Celiac Support Group, gluten-free product demos, and tasty gluten-free holiday recipes. Shoppers will also have the opportunity to win a $100 gluten-free shopping spree and will each receive a copy of Hiller's quarterly newsletter that focusing on gluten-free products and education.
The event follows on the successful heels of similar gluten-free food fairs Hiller's Ann Arbor and Union Lake stores in October, which drew thousands of people, according to company officials, which are dedicated to making it easy for gluten-free shoppers to find a wide array of things to eat via special shelf tags that identify gluten-free products, among others.
During the upcoming gluten-free fair, Peter Julian, chef for the Southfield, Mich.-based Hiller's, will offer gluten-free holiday recipes, which he demonstrated recently in cooking classes at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and on a segment of a local morning show.
Lynn Lederman, Hiller's community outreach director, was also recently featured on a different local news segment speaking about Hiller's variety of delicious gluten-free items.
Hiller's, which operates seven stores in metro Detroit, is renowned for carrying a large assortment of foods with allergy-sensitive customers, as well as a wide array of specialty foods and large British and Japanese food sections.
Through its new Website, hillers.com, gluten-free consumers can make requests from a lengthy list of products, as well as submit requests or special orders through the Web site.
