GMA E.V.P. Mark Baum Moving to Global Management Consulting Firm
WASHINGTON -- The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) here said yesterday that e.v.p. Mark Baum will resign from the trade association to join consulting firm DiamondCluster International as partner in January 2006.
Baum will be responsible for further expanding the CPG practice at the global management consulting firm.
Over the past five years, Baum has managed GMA's operations, particularly in the areas of industry affairs, communications and marketing, and membership/business development; and oversaw the activities of the Industry Affairs Council and Sales Agency Council. Before joining the CPG trade group, as president and c.e.o. of the Association of Sales & Marketing Companies, Baum presided over that organization's merger with GMA in 2001.
"Through his leadership and keen insight about our industry, Mark has made many valuable contributions to GMA," said GMA president and c.e.o. C. Manly Molpus in a statement. "I thank him for being a good partner in our work together."
Reflecting on his tenure at GMA, Baum said, "It has been a privilege and a pleasure to have served GMA and its members over the past five years. Having worked on issues that affect the CPG industry collectively, I am now looking forward to helping individual CPG companies meet the challenges of the future."
Jay Norman, managing director of DiamondCluster's North American and U.K. practices, said Baum "brings from GMA a wealth of industry experience and a unique perspective that can help our clients address the challenges they face at the intersection of business and technology. In addition, his reputation as an industry luminary will certainly help strengthen DiamondCluster's position in the CPG marketplace."
Baum's more than 20-year career in the food, beverage, and CPG industry began at Paragon, a candy and tobacco distributor in New York. Previously, Baum served as v.p. of sales and marketing for Retail Insights; and earlier, held management positions at Food Distributors International.
A GMA associate member company, DiamondCluster International is a global management consulting firm that works with leading companies to develop and implement growth strategies, improve operations, and capitalize on technology.
