Giant-Carlisle/Tops Markets Issues Suggestions for Family Day and Beyond

CARLISLE, Pa. -- Giant Food Stores, LLC here and Williamsville, N.Y.-based Tops Markets, as part of their collaboration with the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University to observe the sixth annual Family Day today, have come up with some concrete suggestions for families interested in spending more time together.

"The simple act of having dinner together is one of the most powerful ways a family can stay connected to each other," said Beth Holmes, director of health and wellness, Giant Food Stores. "Giant strives to offer busy families quick, easy, and delicious menu ideas that allow them to spend their valuable time around the table instead of in the kitchen."

The Ahold banners' customers can visit the "Recipe Solutions" kiosks in the meat departments of most Giant-Carlisle and Tops stores. Additionally, they can find recipes in the stores' new free 12-page booklet "Healthy Family Eating: There's No Place Like Home!," available at all locations. The brochure also provides tips on how to get the family together for meals more often, as well as eating suggestions for all day parts.

Giant Food Stores, one of four retail-operating companies under Ahold USA, currently operates 103 stores as Giant Food Stores, 119 stores as Tops Markets, and 26 stores as Martin's Food Markets. With close to 38,000 associates, Giant serves a six-state market area.
