Giant-Carlisle Marks Black History Month With Free Booklet, Special Events

Giant Food Stores, LLC is once again celebrating Black History month throughout February by making available free copies of the 2009 edition of the "Profiles in Excellence" booklet at all Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets.

The booklet describes geographic landmarks that have become symbols of culture, community and education in African-American history. In addition to distributing the educational publication in its stores, Giant gives free copies to local schools and community organizations.

Also during February, four Giant Food locations will hold special events and displays showcasing the heritage and achievements of Black Americans, as well as year's theme of significant geographic landmarks. The stores are in Harrisburg, Lansdowne, Willow Grove, and York, Pa.

Carlisle, Pa.-based Giant Food, a division of Ahold USA, operates stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia under the Giant Food Stores, Martin's Food Markets and Foodsource Banners.
