Earth Fare Opening Benefit Nets $10K for Local Nonprofit

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Southeastern organic and natural foods chain Earth Fare here recently celebrated its newest store in South Asheville, N.C. by hosting a benefit party that raised $10,000 for Quality Forward, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enhance the environment and lives of the citizens of Asheville and Buncombe County.

"Quality Forward is the perfect partner for Earth Fare," said Troy Degroff, the retailer's director of sales and marketing. "Both our organizations have been improving the quality of life in Asheville for 30 years -- Earth Fare through better food choices, Quality Forward through improving the environment and beauty of our city."

Approximately 1,500 people attended at the benefit party. The Firecracker Jazz Band provided music, while the crowds perused the aisles sampling menu items prepared by Earth Fare's chefs, and tasted beer and wine provided by local vendors.

The chain said sales on June 21, the day of the new South Asheville store's official grand opening, reached a record level, making it the biggest grand opening in Earth Fare's 30-year history.
