Distinctive New Shaw's Store Opens Today
WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Shaw's Supermarkets here is opening a new store in Wakefield, Mass. with a unique piece of local history: The 54,436-square foot store includes granite window sills harvested from the original mill buildings on the site, as a way to preserve something from those historical structures the store has replaced.
"We strive to tailor our stores to the community, and we are proud that the new Wakefield Shaw's Supermarket achieves that goal," noted Shaw's president Carl Jablonski. "It was important for the exterior of our store to reflect the rich heritage that is part of Wakefield's history. We look forward to continuing to serve the residents of Wakefield and the surrounding towns for many years." The retailer additionally donated $140,000 to Nasella Park, which is next to the new Wakefield store.
In addition to what Shaw's describes as a "modern color scheme, graphics, and signage," store features include Wild Harvest, offering a variety of natural and organic products, among them herbal supplements, breakfast bars, dairy, and frozen products; Shop the World Food Hall, which carries international foods; and Osco Pharmacy, which allows customers to pick up prescriptions while shopping for groceries.
