D'Agostino Names Directors of Store Ops, Deli Merchandising

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- D'Agostino Supermarkets, Inc., based here, has promoted Stephen D'Agostino to director of store operations, and appointed new employee Steven Rodman to the position of director of deli merchandising.

Said president and c.o.o. Nicholas D'Agostino III in a statement regarding Stephen D'Agostino's promotion: "Steve has been an important part of D'AG management for a long time. I know he will take on his new responsibilities with the enthusiasm and dedication that he has shown in the past."

Stephen D'Agostino is the second generation of his family to work for D'Agostino: His father, Charlie served as a produce manager. In the food business since adolescence, when he was hired by Key Food to carry groceries to cars in Yonkers, N.Y., he went on to work at Durso Key Food, Waldbaum's, and C-Town. In 1992 he left his position as a C-Town store manager to join D'Agostino.

Stephen D'Agostino began his D'Agostino career as a co-manager trainee in the Park Slope neighborhood in Brooklyn, eventually moving up in 2003 to successfully open the D'Agostino "Fresh Market" at 110th & Broadway, a new concept made challenging by its location in a tight space with lots of customers.

In June 2005 he moved to D'Agostino headquarters, where he served as director of deli merchandising and director of store operations.

Rodman joined the company March 20, but has had a long grocery career in the market. Starting out as a part-time deli clerk in a Big Apple market in Flushing, Queens, Rodman rose to become a deli clerk at Pathmark store and then a deli manager at a Foodtown Melmarket. In 1978 he joined Waldbaum's as a deli manager, and then in 1983 became district deli supervisor. In 1991, after 15 years with Waldbaum's, Steve joined Dan's Supreme, a Key Food cooperative, where he was in charge of deli operations for 15 years before coming to D'Agostino.
