Big Eco-friendly ShopRite Debuts in Upstate New York
The new ShopRite of Stony Point opening on Friday, Nov. 12 -- the fifth in New York’s Rockland County to be operated by the Inserra family, who additionally runs 17 stores under the banner in New Jersey – boasts state-of-the-art energy-efficiency systems and technology.
The 68,000-square-foot location, at 22 Holt Drive within the Crossroads at Stony Point development features a computer program to run all in-store lighting and equipment, adjusting as needed to use 30 percent less energy than a standard supermarket; 77 skylights to allow in natural light, thereby reducing the need for additional electricity; LED and T-8 lighting; and environmentally friendly refrigeration systems.
Among the offerings in the new store are a fresh bake shop; fresh meat cut to order; fresh seafood delivered daily; a full-service floral section; a broad selection of natural and organic products in every department, a wide array of freshly prepared hot foods and sushi for dining in or taking out; a salad bar; a Mediterranean olive bar; a gourmet coffee bar featuring espresso, cappuccino and lattes made to order; a self-serve soft-yogurt bar with toppings; and a pharmacy.
The store will additionally provide the ShopRite From Home delivery service, which enables customers to place online orders from their home computer or a mobile device to have groceries delivered within 30 miles of the location or ready for pickup at the store.
