Guy Pizzuti

Guy Pizzuti, category manager seafood at Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix Super Markets, holds a degree in marine biology, focus on fisheries, from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. After six years as a field researcher for the National Marine Fisheries Service, specializing ion the commercial fleet, Pizzuti was recruited by Publix in 1996 to revamp its seafood program. Currently, he’s responsible for all aspects of seafood operations within Publix stores, and spearheads sustainability initiatives. Pizzuti is a regular presenter at Seafood Expo North America; collaborates with the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) and the Food Marketing Institute (FMI); and hosts Publix’s Sustainability Summit, which convenes seafood suppliers to discuss sustainability.
