Alaska Seafood Promoting 'Frozen to Fab' for Lent

JUNEAU, Alaska - With Lenten season accounting for as much as 35-40 percent of annual frozen seafood sales, the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) here said it is urging retailers to utilize its Cook It Frozen! merchandising materials to further increase sales.

The ASMI's Cook It Frozen! techniques educate consumers on how to conveniently cook frozen seafood by skipping the thawing process for quick and easy mealtime solutions.

Available to retailers looking to promote frozen wild Alaska seafood during Lent, ASMI is offering Cook It Frozen! posters, floor decals, static clings, recipe leaflets, tear-off recipe pads, employee buttons, and a cleverly designed bookmark that outlines simple stovetop sauteing techniques.

In addition, an in-store demonstration training video featuring Chef John Ash is available on DVD and CD-ROM formats. Retailers can order materials free of charge by calling 1-800-806-2497, ASMI said.

ASMI is the State of Alaska's official seafood marketing arm. The public agency is funded by the Alaska seafood industry and federal grants.
