AG New England Launches Million Dollar Meat Club
Five stores supplied by Associated Grocers of New England, Inc., are the first members to be inducted into the wholesale distributor's Million Dollar Meat Club, created for meat departments that have achieved over $1 million in meat purchases over the past fiscal year. The stores are E. M. Heath Supermarket, Hanover Co-op, RJ's Friendly Market, Lebanon Co-op, and Vista Foods.
Representatives of Hanover Co-Op, E.M. Heath, and Vista Foods received plaques marking the milestone at a recent ceremony at AG New England headquarters in Pembroke, N.H.
AG New England meat department head Robin Plamondon described membership in the club as "really just recognition of, and a thank you to, meat departments that purchased over $1 million in meat from AG New England."
AG New England supplies a wide assortment of high-quality meat products, with over 4,000 SKUs inventoried or cross-docked. Highly competitive pricing is achieved via participation in a group-buying consortium, The Shurfine Central Buy Program, which is backed by the might of 300 million pounds of beef a year. Offerings include a full variety of Certified Angus Beef, in addition to USDA Choice and USDA Select beef. A complete line of fresh pork items includes seasoned and marinated tenderloins and roasts, all from such major packers as IBP, Indiana Packers, and Hatfield & Excel. When it comes to poultry, AG New England supplies CVP Mountaire bulk and tray-pack chicken, along with the hormone-free, organic Smart Chicken line.
AG New England is owned entirely by independent retail grocers as members of a cooperative and is the largest retailer-owned, wholesale grocery distribution center in New England. Headquartered in New Hampshire, AG New England serves independent retail food stores in Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and the Upstate New York/Albany area, including nearly 500 supermarkets and convenience retail stores.
