AG New England Gets Director of Business Development

Nathan Beit has joined Associated Grocers of New England as Director of Business Development. In his new role, he is responsible for new business development in the Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut markets.

Beit replaces Joseph Powers, who has left the company.

"He brings with him a vast array of retail experience in all aspects of the business," explained SVP sales & retail development Mike Violette. "Nathan comes to AG New England after over 25 years of owning and operating a fourth-generation family supermarket group that at one time comprised six stores."

Until 2008, Beit was VP/owner of Beit Brothers Supermarkets, Inc. of Uncasville, Connecticut, for 19 years. Earlier, he was the company's perishable operations manager. Additionally, he was VP and director of the New England Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association and volunteered as a committee chairman and board of director member of Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut and a corporator for the William W. Backus Hospital.

Owned entirely by independent retail grocers as members of a cooperative, Pembroke, N.H.-based AG New England is the largest retailer-owned, wholesale grocery distribution center in New England. The company serves independent retail food stores in Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and the upstate New York/Albany area.
