@text:YottaMark, Inc., a product traceability, authentication and marketing solutions provider, said it has closed $10 million in financing that it intends to use to drive growth both in existing customer initiatives and new business development that will accelerate deployment of its HarvestMark fresh food traceability and brand protection solution.
Utilizing HarvestMark, retailers, restaurateurs, and consumers can gain direct access to information about individual food items by entering the unique code found on individual items on the company's Web portals, YottaMark said. The HarvestMark solution speeds response to recall events, and delivers valuable item-level product information and marketing programs across the supply chain, all the way to the consumer.
In related news, the privately-held Redwood City, Calif.-based firm also launched HarvestMark for cases. The enhancement provides on-demand product alerts, direct quality feedback, and secure access to harvest data, in addition to marketing programs designed specifically for the foodservice supply chain.
"Access to information and the ability to communicate across the supply chain are critical in today's produce supply chain," said Mike Jacobson, warehouse manager for Eagle Eye, a Utah-based fresh produce packer and an early adopter of the HarvestMark solution. "Through HarvestMark, our foodservice customers can easily obtain information about our product offerings - including source of origin, harvest data and other safety information - through a secure site."
YottaMark will be exhibiting at the upcoming Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Foodservice Conference and Exhibition taking place in Monterey, Calif., July 25-27. For more information, visit Harvestmark.com.
