Wyeth Recalls Childrens Robitussin, Dimetapp Products

MADISON, N.J. - OTC product manufacturer Wyeth Consumer Healthcare here yesterday initiated a recall of several Robitussin and Children's Dimetapp Cold and Chest Congestion OTC products all U.S. retail outlets that sell.

The recall involves removal of existing products with a dosage cup that does not have a half-teaspoon mark -- which is the recommended dose for children age two to under six. The company noted that this action is specific to the dosage cup and not related to the medication itself.

Wyeth Consumer Healthcare, a division of Wyeth, advised consumers with children age two to under six not to use these medicines until the replacement products with the new cup are available, which is expected to be early November.

Packaging for the replacement products will be marked to indicate that the new dosage cup is included. The recall and replacement program does not affect other Robitussin and Dimetapp cough and cold products.
Products being recalled and replaced are:
- Robitussin Cough DM
- Robitussin Cough and Cold CF
- Robitussin Cough and Congestion
- Robitussin Chest Congestion
- Robitussin Head and Chest Congestion PE
- Robitussin Cough Sugar Free DM
- Children's Dimetapp Cold and Chest Congestion

Wyeth Consumer Healthcare develops, manufactures, and markets non-prescription medicines, vitamins and nutritional products, under the brands of Advil, Centrum, ChapStick, Dimetapp, and Robitussin.
