Winn-Dixie Raises More than $350K to Fight Muscular Dystrophy
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Winn-Dixie customers, company associates, and vendors came through for "Jerry's Kids" during this past Labor Day weekend. Winn-Dixie and partner Acosta Sales and Marketing said yesterday that more than $350,000 was raised for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) during the annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.
"We are extremely pleased and thankful for the support our Winn-Dixie associates, customers, and vendors have shown in the fight against muscular dystrophy," said Terry Derreberry, neighborhood marketing director for Winn-Dixie. "We hope this donation will go a long way in helping the Muscular Dystrophy Association continue its wonderful work that helps so many deserving families."
Winn-Dixie collaborated with Acosta Sales and Marketing to implement Aisles of Smiles in stores throughout Winn-Dixie's operating area. Customers were invited to add a $1 donation to their grocery bill at their local Winn-Dixie from July 26 through Aug. 29. In return, they received an Aisles of Smiles mobile, which they could sign and have displayed in the store or take home. All proceeds directly benefited the MDA and Jerry's Kids.
