Wild Oats Donates $55K-plus to Sierra Club for Earth Day

BOULDER, Colo. -- Natural and organic retailer Wild Oats Markets, Inc. yesterday donated more than $55,000 to the Sierra Club environmental group following a month-long fundraiser in honor of Earth Day.

As part of its month-long Earth Day celebration in April, Wild Oats stores and customers raised more than $30,000 for the Sierra Club through a donate-at-the-register fundraiser, and through a coupon redemption program that was specially designed for Sierra Club members. In addition, Wild Oats made a general donation of $25,000 to the group.

"We're thrilled to be able to raise a significant donation for a respectable organization like the Sierra Club that makes environmental protection its primary mission," said Perry Odak, president and c.e.o. of Wild Oats. "Wild Oats has held a long-standing commitment to protecting the health of our planet, and preserving it for future generations. This donation is just one of the many ways we strive to continually reduce our negative impact on the environment."

Wild Oats regularly supports non-profit, local and national organizations that promote sustainable agriculture, education, environmental preservation, hunger relief and animal welfare.

Wild Oats operates 113 natural foods stores in 24 states and British Columbia, Canada. The Company's markets include Wild Oats Natural Marketplace, Henry's Farmers Market, Sun Harvest, and Capers Community Markets.
