Weis Markets has appointed its corporate dietitian Karen Buch to the newly created position of director of lifestyle initiatives, to take on consumer advocacy, cause-marketing programming, and strategic planning for the grocer's company's growing health and wellness initiatives.
Buch, who now reports to Wayne Bailey, v.p./merchandising and marketing, will continue to oversee Weis Markets' HealthyBites program, which offers customers health and wellness information through in-store displays and messaging, bi-monthly newsletters, television ads and weekly news and radio segments.
She joined the Sunbury, Pa.-based chain in 2003, and is an active member of the American Dietetic Association, the Pa. Dietetic Association, FMI's Consumer Affairs Committee, and the Produce for Better Health Foundation's Retail Consumer Advisory Committee.
