Wegmans Urges Customers to ‘Love Your Veggies’

Wegmans Food Markets' "Love Your Veggies" weekend, scheduled to take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 21-22 at all of the grocer's stores, encourages shoppers to try something new, whether it's a cooking technique, a recipe or a previously untasted item.

The event will feature passports with coupons to guide customers toward tasting and cooking demo stations. Shoppers can also enter a drawing for a "veggie helper" gift bag filled with products that ease prep, while youngsters can complete a vegetable word search, collect stickers proclaiming "I tried something new" and affix temporary tattoos.

Samples will be available in a variety of Wegmans departments, including Spicy Veggie Stir-Fry with Tom Tom Sauce in produce, Kale-elujah! Roll at the sushi counter in prepared foods, Sugar Snap Peas with Black Bean Dip in grocery, Cucumber and Berry Salad with the Veggetti vegetable cutter in general merchandise, and Tuscan Lasagna in frozen foods.

Family-owned Wegmans, based in Rochester, N.Y., operates 85 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Massachusetts.
