Wegmans Sweeps Magazine Awards
WASHINGTON - Wegmans Food Markets Inc. of Rochester, N.Y. was the big winner of several Best Practices Awards presented Sunday evening by Magazine Publishers of America and International Periodical Distributors Association during Retail Conference 2004: The Marketing of Magazines and Books.
Six retailers were presented with the prestigious Best Practices Awards for consistently and creatively driving higher levels of magazine and book category development. Wegmans received awards in each of the three categories: Promotion/Cross-Merchandising, Checkout Merchandising, and Category Management/Mainline Merchandising.
The 2004 Winners of the Best Practices Awards are:
• Meijer Inc. for Excellence in Promotion/Cross-Merchandising;
• Wal-Mart Stores Inc. for Excellence in Promotion/Cross-Merchandising;
• Wegmans for Excellence in Promotion/Cross-Merchandising;
• Giant Eagle Inc. for Excellence at Checkout Merchandising;
• The Kroger Company for Excellence at Checkout Merchandising;
• Wegmans for Excellence at Checkout Merchandising;
• Barnes & Noble for Excellence in Category Management/Mainline Merchandising;
• Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. for Excellence in Category Management/Mainline Merchandising; and
• Wegmans for Excellence in Category Management/Mainline Merchandising.
The winners were selected by publishers, wholesalers and national distributors.
