Walmart's Grocery Division Head Joins FMI Board

The Food Marketing Institute has elected Jack Sinclair, e.v.p. of the grocery division for Walmart Stores Division, to its board of directors.

Walmart Stores, Inc., is the division of the mega-retailer Wal-Mart that operates Walmart discount stores, Supercenters, Neighborhood Markets, and Sam's Club stores in the United States and globally.

Sinclair joined Walmart in January 2008. In his current position with the company, he works to integrate planning, category management, store experience, and private brand development into the grocery business unit.

He began his career in 1982 as a trainee at Shoppers' Paradise in the United Kingdom, later working for Tesco and Safeway, PLC. He was a member of the board of directors at Safeway, PLC during its merger with Morrisons, which resulted in the United Kingdom's fourth-largest supermarket group. He was also the European development director for SB Capital. Sinclair last position before joining Walmart was at McCurrach, a U.K.-based field merchandising business.
