Wal-Mart, TodoBebe Launching Program for Hispanic Parents
BENTONVILLE, Ark. - TodoBebe, a Miami-based integrated media company dedicated to providing information about pregnancy and babies to Spanish speakers worldwide, said late last week that it will hold TodoBebe Baby Fairs at Wal-Mart supercenters in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Houston, and Miami, beginning next month.
The fairs will provide a venue for Hispanic consumers to access information in Spanish on such issues as pregnancy planning, prenatal and maternal health care, breastfeeding, and nutrition. Fair visitors will have the opportunity to meet leading experts; listen to their baby's heartbeat; sample a wide variety of products, meet TodoBebe TV co-hosts Jeannette Kaplun, Maggie Jimenez, and Adriana Abascal; and participate in activities like baby-crawling contests.
Dedicated areas for pregnant moms to rest in and for parents to change their babies' diapers will be provided. The one-day events, to be held in brightly decorated tents in the parking lots of participating Wal-Mart supercenters, will begin in Los Angeles on Sept. 25, then move to Phoenix on Oct. 2, Houston on Oct. 9, and Miami on Oct. 16.
"At Wal-Mart we are committed to contributing to the well-being of the communities in which we operate, by supporting issues and causes that are important to our customers and associates," said Christy Mangio, corporate marketing manager at Wal-Mart. "The family is at the core of Hispanic culture; this event is a wonderful way to reach thousands of Hispanic parents and share with them useful information and services about issues that affect their families."
"From its inception, TodoBebe has focused on providing new and expecting Hispanic parents with the best information available on pregnancy and parenting in a manner that is entertaining and easy to understand," noted TodoBebe chairman and c.e.o. Gillian Sandler. "The TodoBebe Baby Fairs enable us to extend our content into an exciting new physical platform where we can reach and interact directly with Hispanic parents. We are delighted at the opportunity to work with Wal-Mart Stores in order to bring the TodoBebe experience to Hispanic families across the United States."
In other Wal-Mart news, the world's biggest retailer reported a July same-sales increase of 3.2 percent and a total sales increase of 10.9 percent; launched an offensive in Canada against a union drive undertaken by employees in Saguenay, Quebec who last week were granted union status by a labor board; and is reported to be in settlement talks to resolve allegations about its use of illegal immigrants to clean stores.
