Utah Independents Team Up to Fight Local Hunger
SALT LAKE CITY -- With nearly 15 percent of Utah residents suffering from lack of food, community-based independents Lin's, Macey's, Dan's, and Dick's Market have joined forces to support Utahns Against Hunger by donating $10,712 to the charitable organization.
"Our stores are Utah-based companies and we feel compelled to do our part to support this life-changing organization," said Dave Wirthlin, president of Associated Retail Stores, the grocers' cooperative wholesaler based here. "Being a part of this important effort allows our store guests and team members to help their friends, neighbors, and ultimately the entire state."
Associated Food Stores provides complete warehouse facilities and services to over 500 grocers throughout the Intermountain West.
