FIRESTONE, Colo. and RIVERTON, Utah - U.S. Bank, whose parent company is Minneapolis-based U.S. Bancorp, has opened branches in an Albertsons in Riverton, Utah and a King Soopers in Firestone, Colo. A grand opening celebration took place yesterday at the King Soopers store, while a ceremony is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 22 at the Albertsons.

"We encourage people to stop by and say hello, open a new account, and see what products and services U.S. Bank has to help them reach their financial goals," said Erick Kidd, district manager for U.S. Bank in-store banking in Northern Colorado, in a statement. During the grand opening, King Soopers gift cards ranging from $10 to $50 were awarded to people who opened a new account; requested an investment and insurance profile, or a financial consultation; or opened a home equity loan. There were also scratch-and-win prize giveaways of such items as 1 percent loan rate reduction, free checking with free U.S. Bank Internet bill pay, magnetic dry-erase boards, and canvas bags, with no purchase necessary.

The Albertsons grand opening is scheduled to feature such prizes as a $250 Albertsons shopping spree, canvas bags, travel mugs, FM Autoscan radios, crayons, piggy banks, and notebooks. As at King Soopers, Albertsons gift cards of $10 to $50 will be given out to customers who perform certain bank transactions.

"Our customers will find it convenient to do their banking at Albertsons," noted Damon Miller, president of U.S. Bank in Utah. "They will receive the best service possible, backed by the U.S. Bank Five Star Service Guarantee." The guarantee assures customers of certain key banking benefits, and if for any reason U.S. Bank fails to deliver on its guarantee, the company will not only rectify the situation, but also pay the customer.

The King Soopers branch will be open every day, and the Albertsons branch will be open Monday through Saturday. ATM services are available at both locations.

Amy Frantti of U.S. Bank Media Relations told Progressive Grocer that the company currently had 439 branches in supermarkets. There are U.S. Bank branches in Giant Eagle, Hy-Vee, Jewel-Osco, Kroger, Meijer, Publix, Safeway, Schnucks, and Winn-Dixie stores, among other food retailers.
